Bronte Law was just a few minutes from holing the winning putt at the Solheim Cup and she stated it had become the adventure of a life in the final stages at Gleneagles.
The 24-year-old Englishwoman closed her out 2&1 victory over Ally McDonald in the 17th hole moments before Suzann Pettersen wrapped up a 14.5-13.5 triumph for Europe within the USA with the final putt of this competition on the 18th.
“Watching Suzann on 18, I could hear the crowd cheer until the putt went . I really reacted before she even made it around the TV,” said Law.
“So it is a good job it moved in because I was already celebrating. But just wonderful. I’ve never experienced anything like this in my entire life and I really don’t know whether I ever will again.
“It’s just the best feeling in the world. I really like being part of a team. This is exactly what I play with this game for.
“I am not a selfish individual. I really don’t do it . To be able to perform it for others and also for Beany (Catriona Matthew), in our house, it’s really remarkable.”
Law also paid tribute and admitted they’d helped her struggle back after she had been one down to McDonald for four holes.
“The home support has been phenomenal, honestly,” she said. “This is nothing I have ever experienced in my whole life. They have just been phenomenal and everyone came out and they’re really the team’s member. And they have been crying all day now. And that makes a enormous difference.
“When you’re able to hear them actually rooting for you and being loud – and that’s why you play with this game. And it keeps you going and just just gives you the pep in your step. And obviously it wasn’t all smooth sailing today, I played some golf, when things go wrong, but I made some errors.
“And when I made these mistakes I just actually listened to the audience; they were cheering me all the way around. And also to be able to do it in the front of my loved ones and lots of friends is something very special.”
Carlota Ciganda directed off Europe and had a game with Danielle Kang before sealing a 1 up victory with a birdie.
“I was obviously very happy to assist the team,” said that the 29-year-old Spaniard. “For me, it is not all about meit’s the group. I prefer to lose my stage but the team. I believe that it was very crucial that you get that point that is blue on the plank.
“I fought hard. I played with my very best, although I wasn’t comfortable out there playing against Danielle. I won the 2 holes out of the previous three. So really happy to win there to the European team.”
Celine Boutier and georgia Hall won three of their games collectively within the two days that are opening and they ended with a perfect record after winning their singles matches 2&1, the beating Lexi Thompson and the latter beating Annie Park.
“Pretty special. Four from four. I had a great companion in Celine, and I was glad I played very good today to receive my singles triumph,” explained Hall.
Frenchwoman Boutier added:”It is pretty incredible. I am so happy to be able to bring another point to the group and excited about the round now. When you play for something larger than yourself, it’s something very special and incredibly hard to explain.”
