(CNN) — Major League Baseball reportedly has cautioned its players that over-the-counter sexual supplements could contain banned ingredients that would lead to failed performance enhancing drugs tests.
ESPN acquired a memo delivered by the league officer to the 30 clubs.
The memo states in part thatthe goods are often contaminated with prohibited and unsafe ingredients, ESPN documented.
CNN requested the Major League Baseball Players Association and Major League Baseball for a copy of the memo. The team said it will not create memos to nightclubs.
The usage of sexual performance enhancement tablets — commonly seen at convenience stores — is more widespread among baseball players, ESPN reported citing unnamed sources.
The US Food and Drug Administration has warned that the public previously about using enhancement products.
Donald D. Ashleydirector of the Office of Compliance in the FDAs Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, told CNN last year thatthat the FDA has been combating the retail sale of male enhancement drug products that are often misrepresented as dietary supplements which include hidden and potentially harmful active drug components.
