(CNN) — Major League Baseball reportedly has warned its players who over-the-counter sexual tablets could contain prohibited ingredients which would lead to unsuccessful performance enhancing drug tests.
ESPN obtained a memo delivered by the group officer.
The memo states in part thatthe goods are often contaminated with prohibited and harmful components, ESPN reported.
CNN requested Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association for a copy of the memo. The league said it will not create memos.
The usage of over-the-counter efficiency enhancement tablets found at convenience stores — is prevalent among baseball players, ESPN reported citing unnamed sources.
The US Food and Drug Administration has warned the public before about using male enhancement solutions that were non-regulated.
Donald D. Ashley, director of the Office of Compliance at the FDAs Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, told CNN last year thatthe FDA was combating the retail selling of penile enhancement drug products that are often called dietary supplements which contain hidden and possibly dangerous active drug components.
