Mauricio Pochettino says Kieran Trippier attempted to get him to explain he felt his words had been”twisted” while on international duty, when he seemed to reestablish the club’s managing of his death.
The England right-back claimed last week that he”didn’t get a response” if he requested the chairman Daniel Levy regarding his future in the summer, before a 22m change to Atletico Madrid.
Pochettino disclosed Trippier sent him a text but he didn’t get it leaving Harry Kane to pass to the message to the player’s return from duty.
The Spurs boss said:”I didn’t view [Trippier’s comments], but I noticed about it. I can explain how I believe. We had a conversation where he said he was going to go to Atletico Madrid – nothing more.
“Yesterday (Wednesday) when Harry Kane came back he said to me’did you receive Kieran’s text?’ I said’no’ since I changed my number. Maybe because he does not have the number that is new.
“Because he believe his words were I don’t understand nothing longer. Kieran translated this message throughout Harry Kane . He wished to inform me. But I’ve got no issue with Kieran.
“In football decisions happen and players move from 1 club to another. What happened, happened and we will need to move on and be content there and he wants to think of Atletico Madrid.
“There’s no point to talk about if something happened or did not happen. The fact is 1 fact, but who’s in all this process? There is no use in talking. However, I keep very good memories out of him.”
“Following the summer that he came to see me, he asked me to get a meeting and said’gaffer, I believe I’ve a fantastic possibility and for different reasons I’d love to take the offer from Atletico Madrid’.
“He didn’t ask me – only hauled whether the club were planning to take the deal. Nothing more.
“It wasn’t a dialog – you want me? Or you do not need me? It was so clear. He performed the final, when I had plenty of options, together with Serge Aurier, Kyle Walker-Peters, Davinson Sanchez. However he played the closing. My activities talk more than my mouth.”
