Kristian Woolf has been declared as St Helens’ new head coach for next year.
Woolf, who completed the NRL year as caretaker manager of Newcastle Knights, will take up a contract as Saints’ new head coach on November 1.
He succeeds St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus and Gold Coast Titans-bound Justin Holbrook believes Woolf can take the club .
“We believe that Kristian is ideally qualified and placed to build upon the current success of the group and the team,” McManus said.
“He has the experience and skill to deliver the best out of our existing squad and also to improve it further.
“We are extremely confident that the Saints will seriously compete for honours beneath his tenure and that we will continue to play attractive and exciting rugby league.”
The 44-year-old, who has signed up a two-year handle the option for a further year, comes to Super League with a wealth of training experience in both Australia and globally with Tonga.
Woolf enjoyed spells with North Queensland Cowboys’ youth groups and Intrust Super Cup side Townsville Blackhawks, Together with serving as the assistant in both Brisbane Broncos and Knights.
Since Tonga head coach, Woolf oversaw their increase from 14th.

“It’s something I have always wished to perform and it is a fantastic opportunity for me. St Helens is a bar with an remarkable history and I am confident we could achieve excellent things together.”
