Kristian Woolf has been declared as St Helens’ new head coach for next year.
Woolf, who finished the NRL year will take up a contract as Saints’ head coach on November 1.
He succeeds St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus and Gold Coast Titans-bound Justin Holbrook believes Woolf can choose the club to greater heights.
“We believe that Kristian is ideally qualified and positioned to build upon the current success of the team and the club,” McManus said.
“He has got the experience and expertise to deliver the most out of our existing squad and also to enhance it further.
“We are extremely confident that the Saints will severely compete for honours beneath his sanity and that we’ll continue to play appealing and exciting rugby league.”
The 44-year-old, who has signed a deal with the option for a further year, comes to Super League with plenty of coaching experience in both Australia and globally with Tonga.
Woolf enjoyed successful spells with North Queensland Cowboys’ youth teams and Intrust Super Cup facet Townsville Blackhawks, along with serving as the assistant at both the Knights and Brisbane Broncos.
Woolf oversaw their rise from 14th.
“I’m excited and blessed to be joining St Helens as head trainer,” Woolf said.
“It’s something I have always wished to perform and it is a terrific opportunity for me. St Helens is a bar with an awesome history and I’m confident we can achieve amazing things together.”
