Granit Xhaka hits back at Arsenal critics after Tottenham draw

Granit Xhaka insists Arsenal deserve much more credit than they get and has hit back at his critics.
Xhaka came under scrutiny in the weekend when he fouled Heung-min Son to give a penalty away at the 2-2 draw.
Arsenal fought back from 2 goals down to secure a stage and Xhaka claims that the Gunners have been unfairly criticised for their beginning to the game.
“Obviously critics are constantly here,” he explained. “The north London derby, I think we had a good game. We might have won if you saw the game although I made a mistake with the penalty.
“We had a lot of chances but this is football. About how many we overlooked the chances are not spoken about by anybody, nobody talks. They always talk about the mistakes.
“This is part of football.”
Xhaka is off on international duty with Switzerland, who confront the Republic of Ireland – live on Sky Sports.
Switzerland are so as to focus on his Liverpool career without Xherdan Shaqiri, who has requested not to be contemplated for international football.
Reports in Switzerland have indicated Shaqiri is unhappy with manager Vladimir Petkovic’s choice to appoint Xhaka as captain of the side.
Xhaka has played down rumours of a rift from the Switzerland camp.
“I can only speak about how important he is with this particular team,” said Xhaka.
“He is a great player, amazing quality. He will help us and we are disappointed he is not here.
“But we’ve got other gamers as well who have quality.
“I don’t wish to talk about why and what happened, since I don’t understand the reasons precisely, but we have lost a big player for all these games.”
Sky’s Guy Havord spoke to Palao Laurenti of Swiss Radio who hinted a problem is with trainer and Shaqiri.
Laurenti explained:” It was a major surprise since he is among the greatest national players to us.
“It doesn’t seem like he’s having the best time in Liverpool, he is not enjoying very much.
“There are a few rumours that the association between the coach are not so excellent.
“He anticipated the captain’s armband and individuals think Shaqiri is angry at the choice.
“We do expect him to return to the squad following the 2 qualifiers from Ireland and Gibraltar.”
