The Oscars are a chance to see Hollywood’s brightest stars receive accolades for their work over the past year, listen to approval speeches of the great, bad and at times long varieties, and, for many people, a chance to make some friendly wagers. For amusement purposes only of course.
Even as gaming has expanded in the US betting on the Oscars remains prohibited in places like Las Vegas. Gambling on events with predetermined outcomes is almost never justified there. But that does not mean there aren’t odds being laid on the display. We looked at the website GoldDerby to see who’s a popular (or a Favourite) and who is a longshot.
